Half-price frappu-things at Starbucks

From May 6 to May 15, participating Starbucks locations will have half-price blended drinks from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- a Starbucks happy hour. I know the Clifton/University Heights location is participating, as they had a poster up. Apparently this is in part promoting the new Mocha Coconut variety.

31-cent ice cream

It's baaaaack! Baskin-Robbins will hold their (annual?) 31-cent Scoop Night on Wednesday, April 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Not sure about Dayton locations, but the nearest location to campus is just up Highland and a bit east on Martin Luther King.

Restaurant.com 90% off extended

Restaurant.com has extended the 90%-off sale, supposedly ending today. See yesterday's post for the link.

Steve Harms passes along a rare 90%-off deal at Restaurant.com. $25 Restaurant gift certificates for $1 via coupon code “WOW.” There are other money denominations available as well, although they all require a minimum purchase.

Note that up to 80%-off deals are fairly common, but not the 90%.

Groupon for food truck

Today's Groupon is for Cafe de Wheels, one of Cinci's food trucks. I've not tried Cafe de Wheels yet, but the menu looks good and I hear good reports about it. You pay $6 for a $12 certificate for the truck.

IHOP free meals

IHOP has a new email club, which apparently gives you 3 free meals (1 for signing up, 1 on your birthday, 1 on your sign-up anniversary). Some places on the web are reporting there will be additional deals as well. Note that the link above is on Facebook, so you'll need to be a member in order to sign up; if you're not on Facebook, you can find the deal here.

Free fries

Free Qdoba food

This Friday, 7/30, Qdoba is celebrating its (their?) anniversary with buy-one-get-one-free entrees at the 3 area locations. No coupon necessary. See info here, or Qdoba's menu here.

Cheap(er) cheesecake

So apparently 7/30 is "national cheesecake day" (sounds to me like a holiday our culture really needs). Cheesecake Factory will be offering "any slice" for "half price" -- currently, I don't see many details, but I'm guessing it will be restricted to dine-in customers. (But hey, have an appetizer and get some cheesecake.)

Also, if you become a Cheesecake Factory fan on Facebook, you get a personal invitation to "preview day" on 7/29, with which you can purchase a slice of cheesecake for $1.50. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking this beats the "any slice, half price" deal.

Restaurant freebies

I don't know any details here, but Polly Campbell reported on the Enquirer's website about 3 restaurant chains that will send you free offers if you sign up for their email lists. I've had good success with offers from some other chains -- haven't tried these.

Free chicken

Monday (10/26) KFC is giving away free pieces of grilled chicken. KFC says it's at "participating locations," but I see no indication of where those are/aren't.

Restaurant.com is having one of their 80% off sales. This means you can get a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant for $2 (note that you usually have to spend at least $35 on your meal -- but that still means a $35 meal for $12, which ain't bad!). To get this discount, use the discount code NAPKIN. This offer ends July 28.

(If you're not familiar with Restaurant.com, here's a quick rundown. You can find local restaurants by zip-code search or by city. Different restaurants have different offers -- different spending requirements, day/time requirements, etc. Once you purchase a gift certificate, you simply print it out and go use it! This can work great if you have a vacation planned and want to eat out while there. Note that certificates have to be used within 1 year, I think.)
